چکیده

Rationalizable partition-confirmed equilibrium (RPCE) describes the steady state outcomes of rational learning in extensive form games, when rationality is common knowledge and players observe a partition of the terminal nodes. RPCE allows players to make inferences about unobserved play by others; We discuss the implications of this using numerous examples, and discuss the relationship of RPCE to other solution concepts in the literature. ∗Fudenberg: Department of Economics, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA 02138, e-mail: [email protected]; Kamada: Cowles Foundation for Research in Economics, Yale, New Haven, CT 06511, and Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, Berkeley, CA 94720, e-mail: [email protected]; We are grateful to Pierpaolo Battigalli, Eddie Dekel, Ignacio Esponda, Faruk Gul, Yuhta Ishii, David Kreps, David K. Rationalizable Partition-Confirmed Equilibrium with Heterogeneous Beliefs

In many laboratory experiments, different subjects in the same player role have different beliefs and play differently. To explore the impact of these heterogeneous beliefs, along with the idea that subjects use their information about other players’ payoffs, we define rationalizable partition-confirmed equilibrium (RPCE). We provide several examples to highlight the impact of heterogeneous bel...

Rationalizable Trade

“No-trade” theorems provide sufficient conditions for the absence of equilibrium trade between asymmetrically informed players.1 In this paper, we examine when trade is rationalizable. Since rationalizability is a weaker solution concept than equilibrium, trade is sometimes rationalizable, even when there is no equilibrium trade. We provide necessary and sufficient conditions for rationalizable...

Rationalizable bidding in first-price auctions

We analyze the consequences of strategically sophisticated bidding without assuming equilibrium behavior. In particular, we characterize interim rationalizable bids in symmetric first-price auctions with interdependent values and affiliated signals. We show that (1) every non-zero bid below the equilibrium is rationalizable, (2) some bids above the equilibrium are rationalizable, (3) the upper ...

Uniqueness, Stability, and Comparative Statics in Rationalizable Walrasian Markets

This paper studies the extent to which qualitative features of Walrasian equilibria are refutable given a nite data set. In particular, we consider the hypothesis that the observed data are Walrasian equilibria in which each price vector is locally stable under tâtonnement. Our main result shows that a nite set of observations of prices, individual incomes and aggregate consumption vectors is r...
